You will often hear me say, “I have the BEST co-workers in the WORLD!” That is because I get to spend my days playing, growing, exploring and creating alongside the brilliant minds of young children whose love for life and curiosity is palpable!! It can be silly, spontaneous, heartwarming, challenging and extremely gratifying. Each unique child enriches the class with their own personality, peculiarities and passion!

I absolutely love getting to know the parents and families of the children and to work alongside them. We have a unique scenario in co-op where the teachers offer parents education and guidance, often in real time. The impact of this collaborative model is profound for the parents and the children. AND I should know…you knew it was coming… my children went to co-op preschools too (in Seattle, and here at FUMC!) I deeply appreciate all that I learn from the diverse and remarkable parents who seek out our school!

But briefly, before that, a quick background blurb. I LOVE ANIMALS and I LOVE DANCE and I LOVE BOOKS!

I hold a Master in Early Childhood Education from Texas State University and a BA in Developmental Psychology from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

I used to be a zookeeper and I bring lots of animals to school!

I currently teach dance at Canyon Concert Ballet! We don’t sit still for too long!!

I have been an Early Childhood educator for over 20 years, and the last 11+ have been in co-op!

This is my 8th year at FUMC, and I teach the MWF PreK class with Mrs. Lopez!

Favorite movie: Singin’ In The Rain

Favorite book: Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

Favorite children’s book: Impossible to say, but today I really love the Little Bear books by Else Holmelund Minarik, illustrated by Maurice Sendak!
