I’m always happy to be able to say I’ve had an affection for FUMC Co-op Preschool since my son, who is now a sophomore in college, started as a 3-year-old. The play-based philosophy and co-op model is something I believed in then, as a parent and now, as a teacher. I have been in Early Childhood education for over 20 years and have had the pleasure of teaching the 3-year-old preschool class at FUMC for the past 15 years. I have a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Northern Colorado and hold an Early Childhood Certification.

In my classroom I strive to provide an environment where children can explore, create, discover and learn, through play while also focusing on the social and emotional development of each child. We learn what it means to have a friend and be a friend. We work on how to advocate for ourselves in an appropriate, kind and meaningful way.

Our co-op model gives me the unique opportunity to create a personal relationship with the parents in my classes. We are able to work together to support and nurture their child and work to meet their individual needs. I love the sense of community and comradery working in a co-op provides.

My favorite part about teaching young children is watching them change and grow. They start out timid and unsure and finish the year feeling confident and ready to take on the world. Their sense of humor, curiosity and excitement about the world helps keeps me young.

When not at school, I enjoy reading a good book, playing golf with friends and spending time with my family.
